Former NBA star Jason Collins has weighed in on the casting of “Game of Hearts” and “Game Of Kings” in Hollywood, saying that the characters are not very different from each other.
“There’s nothing really special about either of those movies,” Collins said during an appearance on “The Five” podcast.
“There’s a lot of similarities between them.”
In fact, Collins said he is “more than willing” to work with HBO if they can find the time to do the show.
Collins, who retired in 2015 after playing for the Orlando Magic, has played a role on HBO’s “The Leftovers,” which is set in the fictional city of New York City.
The series has been renewed for a second season.
In the podcast, Collins also said he does not regret leaving the NBA and his decision to leave his beloved Los Angeles Lakers.
He said he was “really excited” when he was asked to come back to play for the Lakers in 2017, but that he was unhappy about not getting the chance to play the part he had wanted since he first came out of high school.
The retired star said he had some concerns about his role on “Game” but that his character, who is an old man in the HBO series, has “earned” his spot in the show, despite the fact that he has no ties to the city.
“I was a little disappointed when I got cast because I had a great relationship with the actors and they were so good and I was like, ‘I’ll be honest with you, I don’t really know much about LA, but I really wanted to play this guy, and I really like him,'” Collins said.
“But the fans have really turned out, and they’re really excited about it.
They’ve got so much love for me, and the fans just have such a high standard for me.”
